Honesty Matters

When we buy a pack of cigarettes, there is a sticker on it that warns us that smoking is really dangerous and that it can be deadly. When we buy a bottle of alcohol, a certain sentence warns us not to drink to much. But when we buy for example a sixpack of Coca Cola no one is warning us that the drinking of Coca Cola can be very dangerous for our health as well.

I think that we are warned to little of what certain products can do to our health. In stead of warning people, the companies suppress the danger of their products. Of course everything is about money nowadays. So the companies that make these kind of products want to make as much money as possible and they want to be the most famous in their product class. But the fact that their products can damage our health, no one is actually talking about that.

Of course we as human beings have our own responsibility. We make our own choices. So we can choose whether we want to eat and drink products that are not good for our health. We can choose to consume these products once in a while, to consume them a lot or to not consume them at all. But it remains our own choice.

But in my opinion, we as consumers can only make a good and well-considered decision on what not to consume and what to consume when we have all the information we need about that certain product. Next to that I think that the companies that sell products that can be consumed owe it to the consumers to be 100% transparent about the ingredients. In stead of being open and honest about the ingredients these companies do not name all the ingredients they use nor the way the product is produced.

Next to that these companies hire scientist to their favor. These scientist need to sow doubt about the consequences that these products have for our health. The scientist are hired to tell the world that it is not 100% sure that these products are bad for our health. In this way the companies are not honest to the people and they are misleading us.

Consumers have the right to know the truth. We have the right to know what is in the products we consume and how they are made. We have the right to know the consequences for our health. Only when we know these things we can make a right and thought-out choice to either consume or not consume a product.

In my opinion we do not only need to be aware of the dangers of cigarettes and alcohol, we also need to be warned for the dangers of other products we consume.

Nowadays most of the products we consume contain all kinds of chemical ingedrients to make it taste better, to make us want more and to make us addicted to it. These chemical ingredients are, of course, not good for our health. In my opinion we need to be warned for that as well. There needs to be a sticker on products as soda, candy, ready-to-go meals etc as well. Just like the sticker that needs to be put on cigarettes or the sentence that is put on alcohol bottles. Just a warning of what the consequences are.

And then it is up to us as consumers to make the right decision.

Below this you can find a video that shows 25 things we can do with Coca Cola. When you see what we can do with it (leave the last possibility out because that one of course is obvious), you can probably imagine what it is doing to our body. The video on the bottom of this blog shows what coke is doing to a boiled egg on the long term. This shows what coke can do to our body on the long term.

So For The Love Of Food, make the right decision...
